... Patchy dense fog and localized frost this morning over the
central and southern San Joaquin Valley...
Variable weather conditions will prevail this morning over the
central and southern San Joaquin Valley as patchy dense fog has
formed... while in other areas localized frost is occurring.
Visibility in the Bakersfield Metro area has fallen to around 600
feet in places and these conditions will likely persist through
the morning hours. Elsewhere in the valley... localized reports of
visibility of less than one-quarter of a mile have been reported
however widespread dense fog has not yet formed.
Temperatures also vary considerably and in colder locations
readings have dropped into the 32 to 35 degree range. Given these
conditions... localized frost is likely.
This variable weather is due to differing amounts of cloud cover
and available moisture. Locations which have been or are now
having clear skies are either becoming foggy if moist enough... or
frosty as drier air allows the temperature to fall more quickly.
Both the patchy fog and frost will persist through mid morning.
